Danger of frost during cultivation
If you want to grow cabbage in the garden, you can choose between early and late kohlrabi varieties. The early varieties are less sensitive to frost than the late varieties. Early kohlrabi young plants can be planted outdoors from the end of March. Late varieties, on the other hand, are only sown in July because the lower spring temperatures could harm them.

Temperatures for young kohlrabi plants
- Young plants are grown in seed trays on a warm and bright window sill at the end of March to mid-April. The optimum germination temperature is between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius.
- When the cotyledons appear after about ten days, the plants move to a cooler location. The temperature should at least 12 degrees Celsius be.
- At the beginning of April, the young plants are slowly accustomed to being outdoors. The outside temperatures should at least 8 degrees Celsius reach.
- The young kohlrabi plants spend the cold spring nights indoors, they are not hardy. A room with a temperature of at least 5 degrees Celsius.
