Although there are numerous different varieties of this violet family, by far the most widespread species, which is almost unique to domestic gardens, is the common garden pansy. Actually the plant perennial and can also be included in the garden design for at least two years from a visual point of view. However, since the plants lose their growth habit quite quickly, in most cases they are only used once a year. Since they are able to produce flowers for almost the entire warm season from around April to autumn, annual cultivation has the great advantage that the time of flowering can be determined almost at will. - It is possible to extend the flowering period by consistently removing faded inflorescences, then flowering is possible into August
notice: If plants are kept for several years, the formation of flowers is analogous to that of young plants sown in autumn and reared over the winter. Perenniality can therefore be seen as a clear indication of the spring bloom.

- Flowering depending on the time of sowing in October and November, with mild winters in sheltered locations throughout the winter
tip: Anyone who decides at short notice in favor of a design with plants that bloom in autumn can also purchase them early for the desired late time for the flowers to form.
In summary, it can be said that the pansy is not only extremely diverse in terms of its colour, but also in terms of its flower. With a span from March to November, this small but surprisingly expressive plant allows for a wide range non-seasonal garden design. The bond to the usual vegetation phases remains tolerable when used for several years. For a different design, there is, for example, a combination with other plants with different flowering times or a combination with annual specimens.
