When burning, you have a guarantee that the tick will not survive. However, you should make sure that she cannot escape the fire. It is therefore recommended to hold the wooden block directly in the flame of a lighter.
Alternatively, you can also place the animal on a fireproof surface and finally set it on fire. An extremely brutal tip is to shower the tick with lighter fluid beforehand. In this case, you should take appropriate fire safety precautions.
With liquids
In addition to killing by mechanical means, you can also drown the ticks.

The most obvious liquid for drowning the arthropods is water. However, the cool water is only suitable for killing the arachnids to a limited extent, since they can survive in the water for up to three weeks, they also survive being flushed down the toilet and can even crawl out again under certain circumstances.
It is also not advisable to wash the arachnids in the washing machine, because they can easily withstand a wash cycle at 40 degrees including a spin cycle. Some specimens should also withstand temperatures of 60 to 90 degrees in the dryer or the washing mine.
The only effective application is to throw the tick in boiling water, because in this it dies after about five minutes. For reasons of hygiene, however, you should not use any pots that you use to cook food.

In order for pure alcohol to kill the tick after a few minutes, it should have at least 40 percent. If the liquid is put in a screw-top jar, you can close it and keep the wooden stand. In the event of illness, the animal can be examined to determine the pathogen.
Tip: An alternative to alcohol are chlorine cleaners, disinfectants or Sagrotan.
Ticks in the garden
Although the arachnids cannot fly or walk long distances, they can become uninvited guests in the garden. This is because the parasites can be carried over long distances by their hosts. The arthropods use, for example, as a “travel option”:

- Hedgehog

- mice
Don't forget your own pet if it is not regularly checked for the arachnids. Since many animals use the garden and are also difficult to prevent from entering, you should take measures that make life more difficult for the wooden goat:
- Create barriers of gravel or wood chips
- Create heaps of leaves for beneficial insects in more remote corners
- Remove undergrowth regularly
- Keep lawn short
- Do not plant dense ground cover in the immediate vicinity of frequently used garden paths
